Well prepared

When registering, please tell us about implants, pacemakers, pregnancy, kidney disease or claustrophobia. The need for contrast agent and supporting documents is assessed individually.

What happens during an MRI examination?

The Magnetic resonance imaging uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves. They lie on an examination couch while several series of images are taken. Lying down as quietly as possible is important; in some investigations, short breaks are guided. Hearing protection reduces the loud knocking noises. Through a voice connection, you stay in Contact with the team.

Implants, claustrophobia and contrast agents

Please report implants and medical devices in advance and bring the relevant identification documents. Safety must be checked before entering the examination room. An implant does not automatically rule out MRI. If you have severe claustrophobia, please discuss it when booking.

Contrast agent is used only when a suitable question is asked. Kidney function and previous reactions are taken into account. Whether you need to be sober depends on the specific examination; the registration gives you the appropriate preparation.
