Narrowed or closed vessels can cause discomfort up to a threat to the extremity. Catheter therapy is coordinated with the vascular medical disciplines.

Arteries reopening

In peripheral arterial disease (PAD), narrowed vessels can be widened using a balloon and supported with a stent if needed. Treatment does not replace management of the underlying vascular disease.

Veins and dialysis access

Depending on the findings, methods for treating blood clots or for restoring the function of a dialysis shunt are possible. Also vascular malformations may require interventional treatment.

What is important in advance

Current Medical imaging, kidney function and medications are considered. Vascular injuries, Bleeding, embolism and re-closure are among possible complications.
