Kidneys and urinary tract
Interventional procedures at Kidney are planned in close coordination with urology and nephrology. In addition to treatment, maintaining functional kidney tissue is an important goal.
Procedures based on individual medical indications and interdisciplinary planning.
Procedural summary
- Image-guided percutaneous kidney biopsy
- Transjugular kidney biopsy
- Cryoablation, microwave ablation or radiofrequency ablation
- Embolization for Bleeding and angiomyolipoma
- Nephrostomy
- Recanalization of selected ureteric strictures
- Drainage and Sclerotherapy selected cysts
- Renal artery dilation and stenting
- Renal denervation: Special indication test
Transjugular kidney biopsy
In the case of selected patients, tissue removal via the venous vascular system may be useful if a conventional percutaneous access is unfavorable. The decision is made with nephrology on the basis of questioning, clotting and vascular anatomy. This access also has bleeding and vascular risks.
Clarify and treat findings
Tissue samples can classify unclear changes. For selected small kidney tumors, local ablation with heat or cold is a possible treatment option.
Vessels and drainage
Bleeding renal vessels can be embolized selectively. If urine outflow is impaired, the team assesses with urology whether external drainage is necessary.
Individual planning
Kidney function, clotting, concomitant diseases and the location of the findings are included in the decision. Possible risks include Bleeding, infections and impairment of kidney function.
Consultation and preparation
