Ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration and core biopsy
Radiofrequency or microwave ablation
Ethanol ablation of predominantly cystic nodes

Before an ablation

A benign finding must be sufficiently established. Complaints, knot growth, thyroid function and alternatives are discussed with endocrinology, nuclear medicine and surgery.

Possible risks

Bleeding Thermal tissue damage and impairment of the vocal cord nerve are among the risks. Not every node is suitable for an ablation.
